Courses for Dental Hygienists and TherapistsOur program for Dental Hygienists and Therapists consists of 4 modules which are intended as a series, in sequence, although we have found that many people enjoy coming along for single days, invariably then whetting their appetites for more! Module 1: Assessment and Diagnosis This first module sets the scene for all the subsequent modules and covers the aetiology of periodontal conditions, their diagnosis and assessment. The day also covers risk factors for periodontitis in depth and there is an introduction to the concept of assessing periodontal prognosis for individual teeth.
Full details This module picks up from Module 1 and starts by looking at the evidence relating to the assessment of prognosis before discussing periodontal treatment planning in detail.
Full details Module 3: Non-Surgical Management The main theme of Module 3 is the non-surgical management of periodontitis, including new treatment techniques, the use of antimicrobials and the management of furcation defects and perio-endo lesions.
Full details Module 4: Evidence-Based Practice Module 4 examines the development of the evidence-based approach and the principles of clinical trials and systematic reviews and explains some basic statistical methods and terminology.
