Case 2 - The effect of supragingival plaque
control alone on a patient with long-standing gingivitis
This patient was referred with chronic marginal gingivitis that was persisting around subgingival crown margins "despite frequent visits to the hygienist". The referring dentist was asking for crown lengthening surgery to be carried out as "the crown margins were encroaching on the biologic width".
The patient was shown how to use a single-tufted brush subgingivally and this was the result after one week.
This was the result after 3 months. Crown lengthening with a toothbrush!
