Case 1 - The effect of supragingival plaque control alone on a patient with mild periodontitis

This patient presented with profound gingival inflammation and an epulis-like lesion at 22/23. The critical thing in a case like this is not to probe or instrument, but just give OH advice.

The patient should be warned that following the advice given will result in considerable bleeding and soreness No pain, no gain!

When the patient returns (here 6 weeks later), the improvements, which in a case like this will be obvious to the patient, will be attributed to their own efforts, rather then yours! Result : a better motivated patient.
